Teen Outreach Pregnancy Services (TOPS) provides health education and supportive services to pregnant and parenting. Teen-specific services include education on healthy pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum and parenting skills, as well as pregnancy prevention education for parenting teens and non-pregnant/non-parenting teens. TOPS was founded to address the unique needs of teens by providing an educational and support program in a non-judgmental environment. Since 2001 TOPS has assisted more than 1700 teens to achieve a healthy outcome for their child and themselves. Additionally, TOPS provides one-on-one mentoring for pregnant teens, teen parenting education, education on sexual health issues for all adolescents, workshops and supportive services to parents of pre-teens and teens, counseling, and free-pregnancy testing. In-depth case management is provided for all participants, home health visits, and referrals as needed for other services. In the fall of 2004, we became the proud renters of our first official office in Tucson. This was a major success in our development as our office had been located in the home of our Executive Director. The growth we have experienced since we began offering services in Tucson has been phenomenal. We have added several more staff members to serve the growing population of pregnant and parenting teens. In 2006 we experienced a 35% increase in enrollment of pregnant teens compared to 2005 enrollment. In the spring of 2007 we were fortunate to receive funding from the Arizona Department of Health Services which allowed TOPS, in collaboration with the City of Avondale, Community Services, to expand our service area into the Southwest Valley of Maricopa County. Since this expansion, we have enrolled over 50 pregnant teens for services. In 2008 we will continue to expand our service area to encompass all of Metropolitan Phoenix.
