TOPS Child Birth Education
Birthing class:
- How do you know when you are going into labor?
- You will find out how to time contractions, how they feel and when to go to the hospital.
- You will learn what is happening to your body and your baby during labor and delivery.
- Find out what medical procedures that may occur in the hospital, and what medications are available to you.
Additional Education:
- Cesarean Section information will also be given, just in case one is is necessary.
- Relaxation and breathing techniques are offered and encouraged to help ease the process of childbirth. Find out how to take care of yourself after the birth, and why an ice pack will become your new best friend!
- Breastfeeding -In this class, we discuss the importance of breastfeeding, not only for your baby but for yourself. Discussion will include why you should breastfeed as well as how to breastfeed. You will have the opportunity to practice correct positioning with dolls. How smart will your baby be? Breastfeeding can make a difference. A detailed breastfeeding video is shown in class. Breastfeeding can also help shed the "baby fat" that was gained during your pregnancy.
- Baby Care Be prepared to take care of your baby. Find out what to expect with your new baby in the hospital and what kind of help you may need at home.
